Cirkud Android TV Manual & Tutorials

Navigate with directional pad on your remote. Use the air mouse to select a topic.

1.Make sure you have everything you need.

  • TV or monitor that supports HDMI ports
  • HDMI cable
  • Internet connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet
  • A Google Account

2. Turn off your TV or monitor. Then, use an HDMI cable to connect your Cirkud Media Player.

  1. Plug in your Cirkud Media Player to an outlet and wait for it to boot up.
  1. Plug in usb dongle into one of the available USB ports.
  2. Insert 2x AAA batteries in the MX3 RF remote.
  3. Your remote is now ready for use.
  1. Google email account is required to complete the setup. If you do not have an account, one can be registered through Google.
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete setup.

From the Android TV home screen, you can easily access movies, TV shows, music, apps, games, and settings. To get to the Home screen at any time, press the Home button on your remote.

On the top row of the Home screen, you’ll see recommendations for movies, TV shows, apps, and games. Recommendations come from the apps on your Nexus Player. They’re updated based on the recommendations you’ve selected in the past and apps you use most often.

If you’re signed in to these apps on your phone or computer, what you view on these other devices may affect the recommendations on your Android TV if you’re using the same account. This includes Google Play apps. You won’t be able to manually change the order of the content.

(2) Apps & (3) Games

Apps appear in the second row, followed by Games. On the Nexus Player the apps and games you use the most will show up first by default. You can sort your apps manually or by how recently you used them.

(3) To organize the apps yourself:

  1. From the home screen, scroll down to the apps row you want to sort.
  2. Select the app you want to move.
  3. Press and hold the OK button.
  4. Use the remote to move the app right or left.
  5. Hit the OK button again.
  6. When you’re done, select Save & Exit.

Deleting an app from the home screen:

You can remove an app by holding OK, then dragging it to the trashcan at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t see the trashcan, the app came preinstalled on your Android TV and cannot be removed.

(4) Settings

The bottom row contains Settings for Android TV.

Block inappropriate or explicit images with SafeSearch

SafeSearch can help you block inappropriate or explicit images from your Google Search results. The SafeSearch filter isn’t 100% accurate, but it helps you avoid most adult content. Learn more about how SafeSearch works.

Turn SafeSearch on or off

Note: This only turns on SafeSearch on your Android TV.

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings
  2. Select Settings Settings
  3. Under “Preferences,” select Search 
  4. Select SafeSearch filter 
  5. Select On or Off

If your remote has a microphone:

  1. While you are on the Home screen, press the search button  on your remote.
    • If you press the search button on your remote while you’re in an app, you’ll search within the app.
  2. Hold your remote in front of you, press the microphone button Microphone and say your question. Your search results appear as soon as you finish speaking.

If your remote doesn’t have a microphone:

  1. Scroll to the top of the Home screen and select the Search icon . A text window will open.
  2. Move to the right to bring up the onscreen keyboard.

What you can search for

Check out the examples below to learn about some of the things you can search for on your Android TV.

Note: You can say most of these examples in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, but some examples aren’t available in every language.


To find a movie, TV show, artist, or song, just say the name:

  • “Batman” or “Robin Hood.”
  • “Ghostbusters” or “Game of Thrones.”
  • “Billie Jean.”
  • “Matt Damon” or “Madonna.”

You can also:

  • Search for content featuring a certain actor. Say: “Show me movies with Meryl Streep.”
  • Search for a specific genre. Say: “Romantic comedies.”
  • Find when movies are playing in theaters. Say: “Show me movies playing nearby” or “Show me movies playing in Hermosa Beach.”

Facts and quick answers:

  • Find the time: “What time is it in London?”
  • Check the weather: “What’s the weather in Seattle?”
  • Answer trivia questions: “What’s the population of Romania?” or “How tall is Mount Kilimanjaro?” or “Where was Albert Einstein born?”
  • Solve a math problem: “What’s 34 times 94.”
  • Get sports scores and schedules: “What was the score of the Jets vs. Broncos game?”
  • Search for images: “Show me photos of the Golden Gate Bridge.”

What apps show up in search results

You may also see search results from apps you’ve installed on your Android TV. These results will show up in a separate row. Some search results will be available in few different apps. When you select the content, you’ll be able to choose the app you’d like to use

To find what you’re looking for on Android TV, or to discover more content, you can start a search. You can also get facts and quick answers through your TV.

Find movies and TV shows

  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down to the Apps row.
  2. Select the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  3. Browse or search for titles.
    • To browse: Scroll up or down to see different categories. If you’re interested in a category, scroll to the right to see titles.
    • To search: To speak your search, scroll to the top of the screen and select the Microphone Microphone. To type your search, scroll to the right at the top of the screen and select Input Input.
  4. Select a movie or show.

Play movies and TV shows

The Google Play Movies & TV app uses the account currently signed in to your device. To watch movies or TV with a different account, switch accounts.

  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down to the Apps row.
  2. Select the Google Play Movies & TV app Play Movies.
  3. Scroll down and select My Library and thenMovies or TV Shows.

Listen to music

The Google Play Music app will use the account currently signed in to with your device. If you want to listen to music associated with a different account, you’ll have to switch accounts.

  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down to the Apps row.
  2. Select the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  3. Navigate up or down to choose from the following:
  • Listen now (recommendations)
  • My library
  • Instant mixes (mixes based on your favorite artists & songs)

Sync your music library

  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down to Settings Settings.
  2. Under “Personal,” select your account.
  3. Select Sync and then Sync Now.

Subscribe to Google Play Music

  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down to the Apps row.
  2. Select the Google Play Music app Play Music.
  3. Scroll down to the Settings row.
  4. Select Subscribe and then Get Started.
  5. Choose your payment method. You can add a payment method using your mobile device or computer.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  1. From the Android TV Home screen, scroll down and select Settings Settings.
  2. Under “Device,” select Apps.
  3. Under “Downloaded apps,” choose the app you want to remove.
  4. Select Uninstall and thenOK.

Note: If you don’t want an app to show up in the top row of the Android TV Home screen, turn off notifications for that app. Go to Settings and thenApps and thenSelect an app and thenNotifications and thenOff.

The live channels feature on Android TV loads shows, sports, news, and more from your participating TV apps or TV tuner so you can watch them all from one place. On Nexus Player, you can access this feature using the Live Channels app. Different Android TVs may have their own versions of the feature. Check with your TV’s support to find its version.

Set up TV channels

The live channels app will automatically be downloaded when you install an app that publishes live channels, or connect a USB tuner to your Android TV device. If your TV doesn’t have a local channel connection or any apps with live channels, the live channels app won’t appear.

The setup may vary depending on which Android TV you have. Check with the TV’s support to learn more.

Set up Live Channels:

  1. From the apps row, open the Live Channels app.
  2. Select the source you want to load channels from.
  3. When you’re finished loading all the channels you want, select Done.

Once your channels have been loaded, you’ll be able to view them whenever you open the live channels app.

Add or remove channels Live Channels app:

  1. From the apps row, open the Live Channels app.
  2. Press the Select button.
  3. Scroll down to TV Options.
  4. Select Channel Setup.
  5. Choose Customize channel list.
  6. Choose which channels you want to show up in your program guide by checking or unchecking the box next to each channel.
  7. When you’re done, press the Back button to return to watching your live channels stream.

Watch TV channels

To start watching channels, open the live channels app from the apps menu.

You can change the channel with the remote. You can also choose a channel from the program guide:

  1. Press the Select button.
  2. Choose the Program Guide.
  3. Use the remote to browse channels from all the channel sources.

Use content stored on your USB drive

If your drive is set up as internal storage: Your content shows up along with everything else on your Android TV.

If your drive is set up as removable storage: You’ll need a separate app to use the content on your USB drive. To find an app, search “file manager” or “media player” in your app store.

Eject your USB drive

Keep your content safe by ejecting your USB drive before you unplug it from Android TV.

  1. From the Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings.
  2. Select Settings Settings.
  3. Under “Device,” find and select Storage & reset Storage & reset.
  4. Find and select your USB drive.
  5. Choose Eject.

Once you’ve ejected your drive, you can’t use any apps or games installed on the drive.

Get more storage by removing apps or games

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings.
  2. Select Settings Settings.
  3. Under “Device,” select Apps.
  4. Under “Downloaded,” find and select an app.
  5. Find and select Uninstall.
  6. Select OK to confirm.

Change the storage type

You can change how your drive is set up at any time:

  1. From the Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings Settings.
  2. Select Settings Settings.
  3. Under “Device,” find and select Storage & reset Menu.
  4. Select your USB drive.
  5. Select Format as device storage or Format as removable storage.

2. Set up the USB drive

You can set up the USB drive two ways:

  • Internal storage lets you store more data on your Android TV, but you can’t move the drive’s contents anywhere else.
  • Removable storage lets you move the content on the drive to another device, but it doesn’t work with apps and games.

Once you connect the drive, Android TV will look for the drive format. Android TV only supports USB drives with FAT formats.

  • If it can recognize the drive format, it sets the drive up as removable storage.
  • If it can’t recognize the drive format, it asks you to format the drive as internal or removable storage.

After you choose the format you want, follow the on-screen steps.

Note: Formatting erases everything on the drive, so be sure to transfer any content you want to keep.

If you need more space on your Android TV, you have two options: connect a USB drive to add storage, or remove some of your apps or games.

Get more storage with a USB

Connect and format the USB drive

You can connect an external USB drive, also called a flash drive, to your Android TV to add more space for apps and other content.

What you’ll need:

  • A micro-USB to USB adapter, a device which lets you connect the small USB port on your Android TV to the larger one on your drive
  • An external USB drive

You’ll sign in to your Google Account as part of your Android TV set up. You need a Google Account on your device to use Android TV. You can only have one Google account signed in on your Android TV at a time.

The Google Account on your Android TV device will be used for the following apps: Google Play Store, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Games, and YouTube.

Add a new account

On a Media Player with the most up-to-date Android TV version, you can have one or more Google Accounts on your Android TV at a time.

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings .
  2. Select Settings .
  3. Under “Accounts,” select Add account .
  4. To sign in, enter your email address and password or use your phone or laptop.
  5. You’ll see a screen that says “Success” when your account is added.

Note: Your experience may vary if you’re running Android TV on a device other than the Cirkud Media Player. Contact your device’s manufacturer for more information about updating your device.

More settings

You can sync whole accounts or remove accounts.

  1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings .
  2. Select Settings .
  3. Under “Accounts,” select an account.
  4. Choose one of the following:
  • Sync now
  • Remove account
  • Choose apps to sync

Other apps

If you’d like to remove access from third-party apps you’ve signed in to, you may need to take one of the following actions. Contact the app’s developer for details.

  • Log out of the app
  • Deactivate the app for your Android TV
